Rehab FAQ — Insurance, Detox, Length of Stay & More
Find answers to common questions about our services, treatment programs, and what to expect at Gevs Recovery Center.
Does my insurance cover rehab at Gev's Recovery?
Yes, at Gev’s Recovery we work diligently to ensure we utilize any available insurance including but not limited to Carelon, NYSHIP/Empire Plan, Anthem BlueCross, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, and Optum plans to cover the costs of treatment. Verification takes about 60 seconds — call (844) 501-5005 or use our online insurance check. We offer confidential and comprehensive benefits check that includes deductible, copay, and estimated authorized length of stay for all insurance plans.
Do you accept Carelon (formerly Beacon Health Options)?
Yes. We work with Carelon for both medical detox and residential treatment along with outpatient treatment. If you have your Carelon insurance card, we can usually verify benefits within 60 minutes during business hours. If you still have a Beacon health insurance card we will assist you in obtaining your updated benefit information.
What if I don't have insurance?
We have a private-pay tier and partner with treatment financing companies for monthly payment plans. In cases where you are unable to be approved for financing we can direct you to potential options for either scholarship application or potential coverage options. Call us — we’ll quote exact pricing after a 5-minute admissions call.
How much does private pay cost?
Private-pay rates vary by program length and ASAM level of care. We don’t post fixed pricing because every plan is different. We’ll quote exact pricing after a brief admissions call where we understand what you actually need.
Will my employer find out I used insurance for rehab?
No. Insurance use and treatment is covered and protected by HIPAA. Your employer is never notified that you filed a claim, or admitted to treatment unless you inform them or specifically authorize staff to share information. When the claim is approved the diagnosis is not shared with your employer. This is the most common question we get from our Amazon, Boeing, MTA, and city-employee clients. We understand the importance of discreet and confidential treatment to ensure you are not penalized in any way for seeking and receiving treatment.

Check My BenefitsHow long is medical detox?
We offer a customized plan depending on many factors, in our experience most clients complete medical detox in and average of 5-7 days. Alcohol detox typically runs 3-9 days; opioid detox can range from 5-14 days; benzodiazepine detox can extend upwards to of-14 days due to a slower taper protocol. We follow ASAM protocols with 24/7 staff monitoring. Every detox is different and can be adjusted based on your withdrawl symptoms which are continuously monitored through CIWA-Ar (alcohol) or COWS (opioid) scoring guides at every dosing decision.
How long is inpatient rehab after detox?
30, 60, or 90 days are the most common stays but at Gev’s the length is determined on every case individually. We follow ASAM level of care based on your individual progress not an exact calendar date. Insurance typically reauthorizes in 7-14 day blocks however we evaluate on a daily basis to ensure a constant customization of your plan.
What therapies will I have?
Evidence-based modalities are the core of our program: CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), EMDR for trauma, motivational interviewing, and group therapy. integrated complements include yoga, mindfulness, equine-assisted sessions on weekends, experiential therapy once appropriate all coupled with Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) where clinically indicated.
What happens during medical detox?
On day one, you complete a full medical assessment — vitals, lab work, CIWA-Ar or COWS scoring, and a clinical interview. Medications start same-day to ensure as little discomfort as possible: long-acting benzodiazepines like Librium can be used for alcohol withdrawal, buprenorphine is an option for many clients to address opioid withdrawal, thiamine and folate are options for nutritional support. Many additional comfort medications are available and offered when needed by our medical team, our goal is to ensure as comfortable a detox as possible based on your substance use history. During detox your clinical team remains involved but your primary focus is on the medical detox, you generally will not start group therapy on day one, or have an intensive therapy session the next morning. The first priority is your safety though detox, the clinical program follows once you are ready.
Will I have a roommate?
Single-occupancy suites are standard at Gev’s Recovery. Shared rooms are also available for clients who will benefit from a more social structure.
Can I bring my phone or laptop?
Yes, you can bring your phone, tablet and/or computer with you to treatment. These devices are typically turned in for the first 3 days so you can focus on the initial medical side of detox without distraction. Even during those 3 days, you can request access if there’s a real need — a work obligation, a family emergency, anything legitimate. After day 3, phone access is case-by-case, and many of our clients keep their phones through their full residential stay. Laptops follow the same case-by-case approach — we accommodate clients who need to continue limited work obligations during treatment, including executives and professionals who can’t fully step away.
Can I bring my pet?
Service animals (with documentation) are always welcome. Emotional-support animals are reviewed case-by-case based on the animal, the client, and the program.

📞 (844) 501-5005What is the food like?
Chef-prepared meals, three times a day, with options for dietary restrictions (vegetarian, gluten-free, kosher, halal). In addition to meals the kitchen is fully stocked with a variety of snacks and drinks. Over the years many clients tell us the food is a surprise, clients who have been to treatment before are used to low quality and low nutrition options, we believe that nutrition is a key pillar in recovery to ensure health not only mentally but physically.
Can I keep my current job while attending rehab?
Yes. The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) protect your job during medical treatment. We provide the documentation that requires your employer to approve FMLA leave — without disclosing your diagnosis. This process is common for our Amazon, Boeing, MTA, sanitation, and DPW clients along with smaller employers who have a more nuanced HR process.
How do I tell my boss I'm going to rehab?
You don’t have to disclose where your going or why if you are not comfortable doing so. FMLA only requires that you certify you have a serious health condition — a diagnosis category, not a specific diagnosis. We’ll prepare the paperwork; and help you submit it. Many clients tell their managers it’s ‘a medical leave’ without further detail.
Will my family be told I'm in treatment?
Only if you give explicit consent. HIPAA protects your treatment information from anyone you don’t designate. On admissions, we’ll ask who you authorize as a family contacts those people become the only one we’ll communicate with. Without consent, we wont confirm or deny that you’re a client even if they call.
Can my family visit me?
Yes — typically after the first 7-14 days, on weekends. Family therapy sessions are scheduled separately and we encourage at least one before discharge. Families are part of the recovery and can be integral in continued success after treatment.
Where is Gev's Recovery located?
Our facility is at 19448 Lassen St, Northridge, CA 91324 — a private gated estate in the San Fernando Valley, 25 minutes from Burbank Airport (BUR) and 40 minutes from LAX. Discreet front entrance. Private parking.
Can I come from out of state?
Yes. We coordinate intakes from across the united states, as close as Los Angeles to as far away as New Nork to come to treatment in California. We understand that changing locations doesn’t solve the problem but it CAN give you a barrier to stressors that have led to relapses before.
What should I bring?
Comfortable clothes for 7 days (laundry available), toiletries with no alcohol-based products, prescriptions in original bottles, photo ID, insurance card, slip-on shoes, and optional items like a journal, family photos books or any items that will make your time here more comfortable. The full recommended-and-prohibited list is on our admissions page.
Do you arrange transportation from the airport?
Yes. A driver from our team meets you at baggage claim and brings you directly to the facility.
